Magazines: Reveal CSP case study

 1) How many of the 12 magazine cover key conventions feature on this edition of Reveal? List them with specific reference to the convention on the CSP edition of Reveal.

A convention I can identify is the price on the top-left corner to show the audience the budget cost. It has a photo-shopped picture of Katie Price and her Ex-husband which grabs the audience's attention.

2) What is the font choice used on the cover and what does this choice connote? Here's a blog to help you with this as we haven't been able to complete the Photoshop typography lesson yet due to Covid-19.
The font used is san-serif this connotes that they are aiming at a younger/ target audience

3) How do the cover lines appeal to the Reveal target audience?
The cover lines like 'swapping cardio for carbs', appeals to the audience because it shows the gossip and secrets of these celebrities.

4) What are the connotations of the Reveal colour scheme on this particular front cover?
The colour schemes used are 'pink, red, yellow...' in the front cover showing that it's a magazine for women.

5) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. mise-en-scene such as props, costume and make-up, body position, facial expression).
The images used are of celebrities and their personal lives. For example, Katie Price and her ex-husband shown in a photo together attracting the audience because it suggests an affair is occurring. Another woman is shown eating a cupcake showing that shes off her diet.

6) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Reveal? List at least three and explain the effect on audiences.
The two magazines have many differences, Reveal consists of over the top magazines, it has a lot of writing and images. The Reveal magazine has a lot of Gossip and it's very messy. However, the Tatler magazine is very neat and has professional pictures taken with a central image. Another big difference is Reveal only uses sans-serif fonts , yet the Tatler one uses Serif font. This shows that the Tatler magazine is set for a more older and mature audience, and Reveal is set for a more younger, immature audience
